Frequently Asked Questions

Plain-language answers about booking travel with us

We want travel to feel clear and welcoming. Below are simple answers to the questions we hear most, drawn from our Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and Website Terms of Use.

This FAQ is a friendly summary, not the full legal agreement. If anything here differs from our Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, or Website Terms of Use, those full documents control. You can read them anytime at diasporajourneys.us.

Frequently Asked Questions

DIASPORA JOURNEYS TRAVEL LLC

No. We are an independent travel agency. We plan and book your trip, but the actual travel is provided by third-party suppliers such as airlines, hotels, and tour operators. We act as your agent and coordinate everything on your behalf.

About Us & How We Work

Is Diaspora Journeys the airline or tour company I travel with?

Can I book online myself, or do you book for me?

Both. You can book certain travel yourself through the online booking engine on our website (provided by our air-ticketing partner GTT Global), or we can handle it for you—gathering your details, verifying everything, and processing your booking and payment forms. It's your choice, and we're glad to help either way.

What services do you offer?

Personalized trip planning; flights, including tickets arranged through air consolidators; hotels, tours, and transfers; group and faith-community travel; and curated tour packages such as homeland-visit and heritage journeys.

Two ways. You can use the online booking engine on our website to book directly, or you can reach out by phone, email, or a form and we'll handle it for you —preparing a quote or proposal and confirming the booking once you approve it and payment is arranged.

Booking & Payment

How do I book a trip?

Are the prices on your website guaranteed?

No. Prices and availability shown on the website are for general information and change often. Nothing is final until we confirm it with you in writing and it ispaid for.

Do you charge fees on top of the trip cost?

We may charge professional planning or booking service fees, as well as change or cancellation fees, in addition to supplier costs. We will always tell you about any fee before you incur it.

How and when do I pay?

If you book online yourself, you pay securely through the booking engine at checkout. If we book for you, we'll ask you to complete a credit-card authorization form so we can submit your payment to the supplier. Either way, amounts and deadlines are set by the supplier and shared with you and meeting deadlines matters, since missing one can cancel the booking or raise the price.

What is a credit-card authorization form, and is it safe?

It's a form that lets us charge your card for a booking we make on your behalf. We collect it only to complete your booking, share it only with the supplier processing the payment, and handle it securely. Please send it the secure way we ask for—not by regular email.

Why do you need my name exactly as it appears on my passport?

Airlines and other suppliers match your ticket to your ID. A misspelled or mismatched name can lead to fees or even being denied boarding and corrections after booking are sometimes impossible. Getting it right at the start protects you.

Sometimes—it depends entirely on the supplier's rules for your specific fare or package. Many airline tickets and tour packages are non-refundable. We will request changes on your behalf, but we cannot override a supplier's policy.

Changes, Cancellations & Refunds

Can I change or cancel my booking?

How do refunds work, and how long do they take?

When a refund is owed by a supplier, the amount and timing are controlled by that supplier, not by us. Our own service fees are separate and are non-refundable once we have done the work.

For international travel, almost always. You are responsible for holding a valid passport, any required visas, and any other documents needed to leave, enter, transit, and return. Requirements depend on your citizenship and can change without notice.

Passports, Visas & Entry Requirements

Do I need a passport or visa?

I travel on a refugee travel document or green card.
Does that change anything?

When a refund is owed by a supplier, the amount and timing are controlled by that supplier, not by us. Our own service fees are separate and are non-refundable once we have done the work.

Do I need vaccinations or health documents?

Possibly, depending on your destination. Meeting any health, vaccination, or testing requirements is your responsibility, and we recommend reviewing official travel and health advisories before you go.

We strongly recommend it for every traveler. It can cover trip cancellation, medical
emergencies, evacuation, and lost baggage risks that our terms and supplier rules do not
cover. If you choose not to buy it, you accept responsibility for losses it might have covered.

Travel Insurance

Do I need a passport or visa?

These situations are handled under the supplier's own policies, and the supplier is
responsible for its own services. We will help you communicate with them, but we are not
liable for a supplier's acts, delays, or failures.

If Something Goes Wrong

What if my flight is delayed or
cancelled, or a supplier fails?

How do I make a complaint?

Report the issue to the supplier right away and keep documentation, then let us know so
we can help. Please raise any claim with us in writing within a reasonable time after your trip.

Only what is needed to plan and book your travel—contact details, traveler names and dates of birth, travel-document details when a booking requires them, and payment details to complete a booking.

Your Privacy & Information

What information do you collect about me?

Do you sell my personal information?

No. We do not sell your information, and we do not share sensitive details like passport numbers or dates of birth for advertising. We share information only with the suppliers and partners needed to fulfill your booking.

Is my passport information safe?

We collect passport details only when a booking requires them, share them only with the supplier fulfilling that booking, and take reasonable steps to protect them. Please send sensitive details securely rather than by unencrypted email.

What are my privacy rights?

You can unsubscribe from marketing anytime, and you can ask us to view, correct, or delete information we hold about you—subject to records we must keep by law or that suppliers need to maintain your booking.

Do you collect children's information?

Only the travel details a parent or guardian gives us to book a child's trip. Our website is not directed at children under 13.

us.

Legal & Other Questions

What law applies if there is a dispute?

Do you need to be registered as a "seller of travel"?

Minnesota does not require travel sellers to register. A few states—currently California, Florida, Hawaii, Washington, and Iowa; require registration to sell travel to their residents. If you live in one of those states, let us know so we can make sure everything is handled correctly.
